Chu-Bops were introduced in the 1980 's by the Amural Products Company. The first series they produced, consisted of eight different rock and soul album covers by assorted artists including The Knack, Pat Benatar, Rush, The Spinners and Abba to name a few. Each miniature album had a song lyric (usually the biggest hit) printed on the back side. Once opened, each "Bop Album" included the lyrics to a hit song, and pictures of the artist and some withadvertisments.
Each 3" X 3" inch mini album came in several individual collector sets, and each "Bop" had a number on the back of the album so the "collector" could populate their collection more easily. Some people ate the gum and threw away the cover, some had the insight to hold on to them in thier original shrink wrapped condition.
During the 80's these "Bops" were selling for 29 to 33 cents each. Today, they range from $5.00 to upwards of $500.00 U.S. YES $500.00 for a single Rare "Beatles Butcher Block" Cover with the Original Backing that has the lyrics and the "Yesterday and Today" Version Numbered B-10. Very Few exist that slipped through the Capitol Records Recall and those who have these seldom sell them, they are that limited in circulation.
